My "Bliss"?

First time blogger. Be gentle. This blog is an opportunity to think my situation through. Currently, unemployed father of two kids with a supportive wife. I have been out of work for four months. I was in a sales job for almost a year and a half and discovered, "I am no Willie Lowman." I am looking for my "bliss." But, I am not certain what my "bliss" is.

I have had a successful career as an industrial engineer. My career track has been outsourced to China and elsewhere. I don't want to leave my hometown. Also, going back to a manufacturing job for 8 to 12 hours a day seems unpleasant. Having enjoyed the freedom that comes with sales, it would be tough.

I want to expand myself. I am considering teaching as a profession. Not much money, but the opportunity to help make a difference with others and continue learning myself. It excites me! But I am not certain where to begin.

History is a passion of mine. Learning about the why and how of things in the past. How these events affect our present always has fascinated me.

Math is easy for me and would be more cut and dry in the education business. Also, my engineering degree would make it a more logical fit.

And then there is science. I have enjoyed science class. I was a Physics major my first two years at college. I slipped into engineering as an applied science or sort. And came home to a manufacturing community, that is changing rapidly. I need to change, too.
